baggage

Today I threw out 2 bottles of partly used skin care products. One was a Japanese brand toner, and the other was this amazing Korean brand toner too which works superbly and when I used it up I kept the bottle on the back of the shelf to remind myself to get more when I return to Korea. Which I never got to because I always forget whenever I go back.

Cleaning is always good. Getting rid of excess stock makes space for new good things. De-clutter and arrange. Throw out the eyeliners that you don’t use anymore. Delete old songs in your iPod you skip when it turns up on shuffle. Give away books you don’t (or haven’t and will never) read. Count your possessions and get disgusted by how you’re pinned to one place with so many items.

marchesa

(Previously posted on blogger on the 31st Dec but transferred over to WordPress!)

Quite irrelevant for a post on the last day of the year but here goes!

I’ve known for some time that Marchesa was a relatively young brand and the brainchild of two close friends but it was only after I watched a special episode on a highlight of Marchesa that I realised and got kind of awestruck how much work it must have taken to reach such level of success.

I have to credit Project Runway All Stars season 2 for this sudden interest in Marchesa. It’s hard to not to notice how gorgeous Marchesa’s co-founder/co-designer/designer, (Marchesa is having a little dispute over who’s who), Georgina Chapman is, even when seated next to Carolyn Murphy as the three permanent judges of the current season.

The word “marchesa” translates to “an Italian woman holding the rank of a marchese”. The brand established in 2004 apparently named it after the late socialite Luisa Casati, who died in 1957, dressed in elaborate fur and feathers, and said to want to be “a living work of art”.

Although Luisa tragically died in debt and poverty, Marchesa is definitely not going away soon, seeing that it is a favourite among so many celebrities and their go-to choice for any red carpet events.
